Honeywell is a brand that you know and trust, and the Honeywell WiFi 7 day programmable thermostat is one of the industry’s best digital thermostats on the market today. Not only can this model compete with the Nest and ecobee3, but it excels in other areas, too.
And this model did not become an Amazon bestseller by chance – people love it.
We’re not going to be reviewing this model, as we already reviewed it in the past, but we are going to look at what other users have experienced as well as the energy-saving potential that you can realize from installing the thermostat in your home.
Honeywell 7 Day Programmable Thermostat Energy Savings
Honeywell offers a very intuitive way to check your energy savings while using their thermostat, but it doesn’t really provide you with a percentage of savings. Instead, you’ll enter in your ZIP Code and your current rates on your gas or electricity, and you’ll be provided with an example of how much you will be able to save every year.
A base example that I just pulled up without adding any information showed that I would save at least $67 per year, or roughly $6 dollars per month.
But this is very much on the low side, as I have tried this unit in the past and it saved me well over 10% on my energy bills. The question is: how does this model help you save on your energy usage?
First and foremost, this model offers remote access where you can change your thermostat setting from a tablet, smartphone or other Internet-connected device. There’s also the option of programming the settings for seven days a week so that you can further adapt your thermostat’s settings to save you energy.
You’ll also be able to choose the device’s automatic energy savings setting to help you automatically save money on your bills each month.
I would also like to note that the Honeywell 7 day programmable thermostat is the most accurate thermostat on the market today in terms of temperature control. This model truly keeps your temperature range within 1° of accuracy, so it is the right choice for any homeowner that has a difficult time picking just the right setting for the thermostat.
The EPA conducted a study on smart thermostats, and they found that under the right conditions, you can save $180 by using a programmable thermostat per year. Currently, this model is selling for just over $182, meaning that you would make your money back in just one year. Afterwards, you would save over $15 a month on your heating and cooling bills – not a bad investment.
The Honeywell WiFi 7 day programmable thermostat is currently ranked number two on our top thermostat picks for 2019. This model excels due to its unique temperature control options, weather alerts, filter change reminders and smart response system. This model even offers fan controls to further help you save money. The only model that outpaced this model was the Nest, but this is rather subjective as users have switched to the Honeywell and preferred it over its competitor.
